Selkirk made the trip to Edinburgh to face an in form Spartans side and the league leaders were firing on all cylinders running out 11-2 winners on the day. Prolific scorer Keith McLeod fired in a hat-trick to make it fourteen goals in eight games. This sees McLeod well on his way to three hundred goals in his Spartans career. John Grant, Jack Beesley, Willie Bremner, Sean Muschin, Jack Beacher and Robbie Ross were the other scorers.
Phil Addison got on the score sheet for the Borders club after an own-goal from Spartans stalwart Danny O’Donnell.
Vale of Leithen moved into second spot in the table with a narrow 3-2 win in their derby game against Gala Fairydean Rovers. It was a late show from Vale who were a goal down through Sean Paliczka in thirty-nine minutes. Darren Aird leveled in the seventy-fifth minute and Keith Lough in eight-two minutes and Taylor Aitchison three minutes later put them 3-1 up. Back came Gala and Stuart Noble set up a grandstand finish when he scored three minutes from time.
Whitehill Welfare banged in five goals as Dalbeattie Star came down to earth with a bump at Islecroft. Wayne McIntosh was on top form on the day and fired home a hat- trick. Star got off to the perfect start when Lee Ells flicked home Stevie Struthers shot in the fourth minute, but they trailed 3-1 at the interval, before McIntosh completed his hat-trick in the second half.
A sixty-fifth minute goal from Khan Mitchell-Williams earned Stirling University a 1-0 success against Gretna 2008.
Andy Johnston hit East Kilbride’s goal in their 1-1 draw with Threave. Grant Parker got on the score sheet to level for the Dumfries side.
