Celtic B vs Tranent

Celtic B extended their unbeaten run to ten games after their victory over Tranent at Excelsior Park.

In their previous fixtures, Celtic B defeated Civil Service Strollers in an impressive 7-0 win, with Tranent also gaining victory as they managed to beat Linlithgow Rose 2-1.

With it being the first meeting between the two clubs this season, both sides would be hoping to gain the advantage over the other and try to climb the league table.

The Young Hoops started the game as the better side as they tried to create chances to get the opening goal. Long-range efforts from Lewis Scobbie and Daniel Cummings tested Tranent’s Kelby Mason, but he was able to gather the ball safely.

Despite these opportunities, Celtic B would eventually find their first goal of the match, but not at their own hands.

As a ball was crossed into the box by Bruno Davidson, defender Euan Bauld tried his best to intercept it and clear it away.

Unfortunately for him, he would mistime his clearance and smash it into his own net.

An unexpected opener, but there would be no complaints from Celtic B.

However, their lead would not last long as Tranent’s Ben Miller scored a potential goal-of-the-season contender.

Miller picked up the ball from about 30 yards out and unleashed an outrageous strike on goal, with Celtic’s Joe Morrison scrambling to keep the ball out.

The game started to pick up speed as both sides battled hard to gain the advantage and create more chances.

After the break, the game picked up from where it left off with each team trying to get their second goal of the match.

Although Miller had another great effort on target, it would be Celtic B that found their next goal as Ben Quinn squeezed the ball past Mason in goal.

As Davidson dribbled towards the box, he found Quinn with loads of space, leading for the eventual goal to be scored.

Celtic’s second goal killed the momentum for Tranent as the home side cruised the majority of the second half, with no worry that their opposition would get back in the game.

Quinn would have another chance to get his second goal of the match, but his curling effort went inches over the bar.

With the clock ticking down, Tranent tried their hardest to at least earn a point from the match, but the Young Hoops managed to hold on and win the game.

In their next match, Celtic B returns to league action as they travel to Coatbridge to face Albion Rovers.

Elsewhere, Tranent hosts Cumbernauld Colts in the Lowland League Cup as they battle for a place in the final.
