Edinburgh City will make the trip North tomorrow for the first leg of the play-off against Highland League champions, Cove Rangers.
City boss Gary Jardine is looking forward to the challenge but knows his team will need to be at their best to progress to the next stage.
Jardine said “After the disappointment of last year we never thought we’d get another opportunity to make history so soon, however, the resolve, determination and quality my players have shown in bouncing back from last years loss on penalties has been remarkable and they deserve this chance to make football history.
“Incidentally I believe that promotion should be automatic.
“The players have prepared extremely well this week but we don’t underestimate the size of the task in front of us.
“Cove are a quality side full of good experienced players who I imagine are equally as hungry as ours to succeed.
“I’ve no doubt my players are good enough to play at a higher level in Scottish football and to play themselves in through the playoffs would be an unrivalled achievement in Scottish football.
“We want to be playing at SPFL level and this is a dream our chairman and committee members have had for some years and one that the players have bought into and are determined to give it their best shot.”
The second leg will take place next Saturday at Meadowbank.
