The dates for the Pyramid Play-Off have been confirmed.
The ties were originally scheduled for April 21/28 until the adverse weather conditions wreaked havoc with the Scottish Highland Football League fixture schedule. The considerable fixture congestion since ensured that it would not have been possible for a champion to be crowned from the SHFL in time for the initial slots.
As a result, the two games will now be played on:
Saturday 28 April – winner of Scottish Highland Football League v winner of Scottish Lowland Football League
Tuesday 1 May – winner of Scottish Lowland Football League v winner of Scottish Highland Football League
League Chairman Andrew Waddell said: “We have been luckier in the Lowlands and have not had the level of disruption that the clubs have experienced in the Highlands – losing the match between two title contenders to weather twice in the same week must represent really bad luck.
“Dates for the matches had been predicted as 21st and 28th April, to allow for the earlier Scottish Cup Final this season but it is now obvious that we couldn’t go ahead with those dates. As in all such matters, there is close dialogue and co-operation between the Highlands and the Lowlands and we are keeping the SFA (who are responsible for setting the playoff dates) informed.”
