Caledonian Braves vs Bo’ness United

Bo’ness United defeat Caledonian Braves at every opportunity, last season – with 2-0 and 3-2 wins in the league, as well as a 2-1 knockout victory in the Lowland League Cup.

Bo’ness United currently sit in 7th place with 15 points from eight games played – made up of five wins and three defeats.

The B.U’s started their season in impressive form, accumulating five successive victories. But, they come into this having taken a dip in form, with three straight defeats.

Caledonian Braves currently sit in 15th place with eight points from nine games played – made up of two wins, two draws, and two defeats.

The Braves are undefeated in their last three games – with back-to-back 1-1 draws v Hearts B and East Stirlingshire, and fresh off defeating Gretna 2008 4-0.

Caledonian Braves took maximum points off Gretna 2008, last season – thanks to 6-0 and 1-0 victories.

Caley Braves find themselves in 16th place with five points from eight played – made up of one win, two draws, and five defeats.

Having gone five straight defeats since their opening day win, The Braves come into this having picked up points from back-to-back draws with Hearts B and East Stirlingshire.

Gretna 2008 are second from bottom in 17th place – with three points from nine games played.

Having started with seven straight defeats, Gretna 2008 found their first three points with a dramatic last-minute winner v Civil Service Strollers.

The Anvils came crashing back down with a heavy 8-0 loss away to Tranent – making that 48 goals conceded, and five scored.

Both sides managed a home win against each other, last season – with Caley Braves winning 3-1 at Alliance Park, and Civil Service securing a 2-0 win at Christie Gillies Park.

The Braves have had a tough start to the season. Since defeating Berwick Rangers 1-0 on the opening day, they have only managed to add one other goal to their tally, whilst losing four consecutive matches against Celtic B, Broomhill, Linlithgow Rose, and Stirling Uni.

They do, however, come into this off the back of a comprehensive 9-1 victory over St Cuthbert Wanderers in the South Challenge Cup.

Civil Service Strollers have had a decent start to the campaign, having only lost one of their opening five games. The Strollers have scored at least two goals per league game – with the exception of their 0-0 draw with East Stirlingshire.

The Strollers other results come in the shape of 4-3 and 3-1 wins over Edinburgh University and Celtic B, a 3-2 defeat to Hearts B, and a 2-2 draw with Cowdenbeath.

Civil Service Strollers come into this off the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Haddington Athletic in the South Challenge Cup.

Caledonian Braves vs Linlithgow Rose

This will be the first time that both sides have faced each other.

Caley Braves won their opening day fixture – when Jamie Watson scored the only goal to defeat Berwick Rangers 1-0.

Since then, The Braves haven’t been able to put a point on the board – losing 5-1 to Celtic B, and 2-0 to Broomhill.

A 3-1 opening day win over Stirling Uni at Prestonfield got the campaign off to a positive start. This was followed by a 2-0 defeat away to Broomhill, but The Rose got back to winning ways as they blew Gretna 2008 away with a 9-2 victory.

Eight players have contributed to The Rose’s 12 goals, making them a threat from any position.

Caledonian Braves vs Berwick Rangers

Caley Braves will be looking to build on their midtable finish, last season – ending the campaign tenth in the league, with 51 points.

Like GFR, The Braves enjoyed participating in some high-scorelines, including a 4-4 draw with Celtic B, a 5-2 win over Hearts B, and the highest scoring game of the 22/23 season: a 10-0 win over Dalbeattie Star.

However, they do now need to contend with the loss of major creator and convertor, Marc Kelly – who travelled along the bypass to Mick Kennedy’s new-look East Kilbride.

Berwick Rangers ended the 22/23 campaign in a very respectable seventh, with 61 points. The Wee Gers finished as one of the in-form teams – losing only four of their last twenty competitive matches.

Stuart Malcolm has been looking to solidify The Black & Gold at the back – bringing in Callum Mackay from The Spartans, Jamie McCormack from Bo’ness United, and Kane O’Conner from Tranent.
