On Sunday East Kikbride and Gretna 2008 will go head to head in the Ferrari Packaging Lowland League Cup Final.
Fixtures manager Kenn McLean tells us about the road to the to the final.
Kenny said “East Kilbride began their run to Netherdale with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the University of Stirling.
“It took goals from Gavin Millar, Anton Brady and then Craig Hastings in the additional 30 minutes to see off the students. In the Second Round today’s hosts Gala Fairydean Rovers were the visitors and they were blown away 5-1 in an EK whirlwind featuring a Sean Winter penalty, David Proctor, a Craig Hastings double and Gavin Millar on the score-sheet.
“Last week’s Semi-Final saw another Sean Winter penalty and a fine strike by Anton Brady carry the Lanarkshire men through to the Final, delivering their first clean sheet of the tournament in the process.
“Gretna 2008 also reached today’s Final with a run of home ties. In the First Round a brace from Connor Graham was sufficient to see off BSC Glasgow 2-1, and a week later a solitary strike from Dean Reynard saw them eliminate Selkirk.
“In the Semi-Finals a 1-0 win was again enough for the Dumfriesshire outfit, with Connor Graham once more the hero in a pulsating 1-0 win over Spartans.
“One unusual aspect of today’s final is that it is an exact re-run of last year’s edition.
“On Sunday 17th May 2015 at Netherdale, Galashiels these two teams met in the Lowland League Cup Final with East Kilbride winning 3-1 on the day.”
All the ation kicks off at Netherdale Arena at 3:0pm.
