A round up of all todays action.
Dalbeattie Star 3 Stirling University 1
Star earned just their second home league win of the season with an excellent performance against a fine University side.
The visitors took the lead on the half hour when Kessie scored with a good finish but 3 minutes from the break Graeme Bell levelled with a great diving header.
Six minutes after the break Ritchie Maxwell’s brilliant run down the right saw him cut the ball back to Lewis Sloan who slammed Star ahead with an emphatic finish.
The students pressed hard for an equaliser but the Star defence stood firm and the points were sealed in the 84th minute when Lewis Todd’s shot took a wicked deflection leaving Marshall helpless in the Stirling goal.
Spartans 1 Edinburgh University 1
Jack Beesley fired the home side ahead just on the half hour mark.
Willie Bremner’s shot from 30 yards was pushed away by the keeper but only as far as Beesley who was lurking in the box. Beesley fired into the empty net.
A Uni free-kick from the edge of the box was whipped in and Jack Guthrie’s slightest of touches was enough to guide it into the net.
Both teams finished with ten men when Keith McLeod and Hamish Fleet were sent off following a coming together.
In the only other league game Preston Athletic and BSC Glasgow finished without any goals, despite several chances for both teams.
