Newcomers East Kilbride lifted the South Challenge Cup this afternoon, comfortably beating Dalbeattie Star 2-0 in a great game at Palmerston Park.
Dalbeattie had the better of the chances and just as it looked like both teams were going in level at half time Chris McDougall popped up in the Star box and slotted the ball low passed the keeper to give East Kilbride the advantage half time advantage.
McDougall was causing all sort of problems for the Star defence and shortly after the restart he was fouled in the box Kieran Daw, leaving the referee no option other that to award a penalty.
Mark Templeton stepped up and showed great composure when he converted the spot kick to seal the victory.
