Weekend Roundup: Saturday 21 December

A roundup off all the action from todays League Cup matches.

Spartans 3-4 Stirling University

John Sludden fired Stirling into the led with twenty minutes gone and Ainslie Park, he got on the end of a long ball forward and lobbed the ball over the advancing Ross Gilpin. Kevin Motion whipped in a pacey corner, this hit of a defender before leaving the keeper with no chance.

The rain hammered down at the start of the second half and Stirling Uni took the lead when a penalty was awarded, Sludden stepped up and smashed the ball into the net for his second of the afternoon. Khan Williams-Mitchell then got a third for Stirling after some fine work down the line by Sludden, he squared to Khan who slotted the ball into the net.

Keith McLeod pulled one back for Spartans with a twenty-five yard shot that nestled high in the corner of the net leaving the keeper with no chance. Sludden set up Stirling’s fourth of the afternoon when he squared to Ryan Millar who scored. Danny O’Donnell got a third for Spartans in injury time.

East Kilbride 6-0 Threave Rovers

East Kilbride ran out six-nil winners against Threave Rovers at K-Park, Kieran Daw scored just after fifteen minutes. The home club were then reduced to ten men when David Atha was sent off when he retaliated after a challenge.

Craig McLeish doubled the K-Park clubs lead on the half hour mark, Roddy Cooksley was sent off for Threave before Marc Templeton scored to make it three-nil.

Chris MacDougal got a double early in the second half and Jordan Craig completed the rout in the seventy-fifth minute.

Edinburgh City 1-0 Whitehill Welfare

Dougie Gair got the only goal of this match in the sixty-fourth minute. A few minutes before the goal Stevie Manson was dismissed by match referee Mark McHendry. Wayne McIntosh followed him for an early just before the full time whistle.
